Opinion Writing FREEBIE!

 
How many of you are starting the new year off by teaching opinion writing during your writing workshop segment? That's the type of writing my school focuses on for the 3rd quarter of the school year. Students love to give their opinion on lots of topics. Start your new year with this writing freebie!

    Hi Sherry,
    Great ideas for opinion writing. I am so interested in how your students will do. I taught K for 12 years and we never taught opinion writing as I went to 2nd 4 years ago(pre-CCSS). It is now one of my favorite units in 2nd so I am curious how you like teaching it in K. Your ideas above are adorable and fabulous. I will download for my kiddos as well.

      Yes, opinion writing is one of the new CCSS. We have done opinion writing for several years now. My kindergarten students LOVE it! I use these in my writing center and they can't wait until it's their turn to go to the writing center. They do such a great job with it. They love giving their opinion. I'll have to post some samples on my blog once we get the new year going. Thanks for your comment and for stopping by!

      Thanks Tara! My students love doing opinion writing activities. At least in the past few years they have. I am starting opinion writing with my current students when we return to school next week. I'll try to post some writing samples to my blog once we return.
